Visvesvaraya PhD Scheme
With the consent of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, the “Visvesvaraya PhD Scheme for Electronics & IT” was launched in 2014 with the goal of increasing the number of PhDs in the nation (Budget: Rs. 466 crore).
A total of 97 institutions across 25 states and 4 Union Territories, including IITs, NITs, Central and State Universities were given PhD seats.
The scheme’s second phase, which has a budget of Rs. 481.93 crore, over nine years, has now been initiated and aims to:1000 Full Time PhD Candidates.
- 150 Part Time PhD Candidates.
- 50 awardees of “Young Faculty Research Fellowship”.
- 225 awardees of Post-Doctoral Fellowship.
