India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission aims to make the country a global hub for green hydrogen production, targeting 5 million metric tonnes per annum by 2030. To provide the certification backbone for this ambition, the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) has launched the Green Hydrogen Certification Scheme of India (GHCI) — and NeGD is building its Digital Portal.  The GHCI Digital Portal serves as the single-window platform where hydrogen producers register, submit production data, and receive government-backed certification confirming their hydrogen meets the emission threshold of 2 kg CO₂e/kg H₂. The portal manages the end-to-end workflow involving producers, Accredited Carbon Verifiers (ACVs), and the Technical Committee, with features including digital signatures, automated fee calculation, certificate generation with QR verification, and a public certificate registry.  GHCI certification enables producers to claim carbon credits, access government incentives, and demonstrate green credentials to domestic and international buyers — supporting India’s clean energy transition and export competitiveness.
