MeitY releases 2ⁿᵈ edition of the Digital Threat Report 2025-26 for India’s BFSI Sector in Collaboration with SISA

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), along with the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), the Computer Security Incident Response Team in Finance (CSIRT-Fin) and SISA, today released the second edition of the Digital Threat Report 2025–26 for the Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI) and payments ecosystem. The report provides financial institutions, regulators and cybersecurity leaders with an executive assessment of the threats reshaping banking, financial services, insurance and digital payments.

National Consultative Workshop on “Strengthening Cyber Security Frameworks for State Data”

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) convened the National Consultative Workshop on "Strengthening Cyber Security Frameworks for State Data" at The Ashok Hotel, New Delhi on 11 May 2026. The Workshop was chaired by Shri S. Krishnan, IAS, Secretary, MeitY, and was attended by Principal Secretaries, Secretaries and senior officers from State and Union Territory Governments, along with representatives from the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), the National Informatics Centre (NIC), and senior officials of MeitY and NeGD.
Five States Felicitated for exceptional DigiLocker Integration Initiatives

The National e-Governance Division (NeGD) has been consistently working towards integrating DigiLocker with citizen services across the country to enable seamless and efficient delivery of public services. As a part of its sustained efforts to strengthen digital governance, NeGD has focused on facilitating the integration of DigiLocker with various State digital service platforms. In recognition of exemplary initiatives in this domain, five States were felicitated for their outstanding contribution towards DigiLocker integration. The felicitation took place during the National Consultative Workshop on Strengthening Cybersecurity Frameworks for State Data, held on May 11, 2026.
Cabinet approves two more semiconductor manufacturing units with cumulative investment of more than Rs. 3,900 crore

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi approved two more semiconductor projects under India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) which includes country’s first commercial Mini/Micro-LED display facility based on GaN (Gallium Nitride) Technology and a semiconductor packaging facility.
Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Rules, 2026

The Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming (PROG) Act, 2025 was enacted by Parliament in August 2025 as a landmark legislation to safeguard citizens from the growing menace of online money games while creating an enabling framework for e-sports and online social games. The Act reflects the Government’s resolve, articulated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to position India as a global hub for gaming, innovation and creativity, and at the same time protect society from the financial, psychological and social distress caused by predatory online money gaming platforms.
