C-DAC, Hyderabad, a scientific society under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India and Reliance Foundation, today announced the launch of e-SafeHER, a Cyber Security Awareness Training programme to enable one million women across rural India, to safely and confidently participate in the digital ecosystem.

In a significant step towards strengthening minority language preservation through AI-led innovation, the BHASHINI Sanchalan/Seva Workshop on Pali Language Preservation and Digital AI Model Development was conducted on 10 April 2026 at the Faculty of Arts, University of Delhi. The workshop was organised by the Digital India BHASHINI Division (DIBD) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) in collaboration with the Centre for Advanced Studies in Buddhist Studies, University of Delhi.

Bhashini Samudaye is centralised digital platform bringing together individual contributors, startups, academic institutions, and research organisations to support the development of a multilingual AI ecosystem.

Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has initiated a project “Startup Challenge to develop Citizen-Centric Innovative Solutions using Blockchain and Web3”.

Aadhaar is the world’s largest biometric identity system maintained by Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) with approximately 134 crore live Aadhaar holders.

Government of India is conscious of the cybersecurity risks posed by digital technologies. In last 12 years, numerous efforts have been made to strengthen India’s digital ecosystem, outlined below.

Government of India launched IndiaAI mission with outlay of Rs. 10,372 crore for the development of the overall AI ecosystem in the country. With India’s push to democratise Artificial Intelligence and expand compute capacity, along with the rapid growth of data centres and cloud infrastructure, there has been a corresponding increase in demand for high-performance compute resources, including Graphics Processing Units (GPUs). Under the IndiaAI Mission, more than 38 thousand GPUs for common compute facility have been onboarded through the AI compute portal, which are being provided to Indian start-ups and academia at an affordable rate. GPUs are highly advanced equipment and are primarily manufactured in one country.

India’s AI strategy is based on the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision to democratize the use of technology. It aims to address India centric challenges, create economic and employment opportunities for all Indians.

Under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister, India has taken several steps to promote the drone industry. The aim is to make India a global drone hub and create a robust indigenous ecosystem.

The policies of Government of India are aimed at ensuring open, safe, trusted and accountable cyberspace for users in the country. The Government is cognizant of the risks and harms arising from the misuse of digital technologies including the social media. The Information Technology Act, 2000 (“IT Act”) and the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021 (“IT Rules”), together, have established a framework to deal with unlawful content in the digital space.

The Nyaya Setu AI Chatbot, along with its official mascot “Dishika”, was unveiled at the DISHA programme organised by the Department of Justice at Vigyan Bhawan by the Vice-President of India, Shri C.P. Radhakrishnan, and the Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Law and Justice, Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal.
