In continuation of approval of seven applications for ₹ 5,532 crore announced earlier, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has approved 17 more proposals under the Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS). These approved projects span across the country with a total investment of Rs 7,172 crore, cumulative projected production of Rs 65,111 crore, and creation of 11,808 direct employment opportunities.

Enacted by Parliament on 11 August 2023, the DPDP Act establishes a comprehensive framework for protecting digital personal data, setting out the obligations of entities handling such data (Data Fiduciaries) and the rights and duties of individuals (Data Principals). UIDAI to use behavioural insights to enhance adoption of Mandatory Biometric Update (MBU) among children

After waiving all charges for Mandatory Biometric Update (MBU) in Aadhaar for children, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) will use behavioural insights to enhance adoption of MBU. UIDAI has partnered with research consultancy Behavioural Insights Limited (BIT) to help children and youngsters access vital services through the timely updation of biometric in their Aadhaar.

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has released a Standard Operating Procedure (SoP) to strengthen mechanisms for the removal and prevention of Non-Consensual Intimate Imagery (NCII) content on online platforms. This initiative, developed in compliance with the directions of the Madras High Court (Writ Petition – Civil No.25017/2025, Order dated 15.07.2025), aims to provide clear and victim-centric procedures for swift removal of such objectionable content and to ensure effective implementation of Rule 3(2)(b) of the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021.
